The subsequent events can only be described as desperately sad.<\/p>\n<p>According to a BBC eye-witness reporter \u2013 and we almost never quote the BBC &#8211; this all happened only a few hundred yards off the French coast at Wimereux, near Boulogne in northern France.<\/p>\n<p>It took place only a few hours after the Lords finally accepted that their repeated amendments to the Rwanda Bill were clearly never going to be accepted by the people\u2019s <b>elected<\/b> representatives in the House of Commons, and the Bill was passed after weeks of wrangling.<\/p>\n<h3>\n<p>\u201cJ\u2019accuse\u201d<\/h3>\n<p>Our heading above comes from the title of an open letter to the French President in 1898 from the French writer \u00c9mile Zola. Those who might now feel some responsibility for the death of this young girl and at least four adults yesterday include the following :-<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The people smugglers making millions from these people who were perfectly safe on French soil<\/li>\n<li>\nThe parents of this little girl who put her life in peril<\/li>\n<li>\nPresident Emmanuel Macron who has refused to take back any of his illegal migrants<\/li>\n<li>\nEU Commission President von der Leyen who has equally refused a deal<\/li>\n<li>\nMembers of the House of Lords who obstructed the Rwanda Bill until hours before the tragedy<\/li>\n<li>\nSir Keir Starmer\u2019s Labour MPs, Ed Davey\u2019s LibDems, and the SNP who all voted against it <\/li>\n<li>\nRishi Sunak\u2019s government and past administrations for not taking robust action a long time ago<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>The simple solution to the illegal boat migrant problem<\/h3>\n<p>Illegal migrants will not each pay thousands of euros to people smugglers if they know they will simply be returned to France, or sent to a country such as Rwanda.<\/p>\n<p>In Australia\u2019s case they towed them back or processed them on an island and their illegal boat migrant problem stopped. It was bold, the Australian government was widely condemned in advance by the global \u2018elites\u2019, but it worked. Australia has not become a pariah state as a result of its actions.<\/p>\n<p>Emmanuel Macron\u2019s France refuses to take back his illegal migrants. He says this is an EU Commission decision. Ursula von der Leyen and her EU Commission have simply refused to agree a returns deal with the UK.<\/p>\n<p>Unless and until the UK government starts to become assertive with our continental \u2018friends\u2019, then the only option we have is Rwanda.
